Part 1: Bartella Church

Up until a few weeks ago, ISIS controlled this village in Northern Iraq. See what they’ve done to this church in Bartella in the hopes that they might stamp out Christianity in the area.

Part 2: Meet Shwan

Shwan is a Kurdish Journalist in Northern Iraq. Charles Morris meets up with him in Bartella, an ancient and empty Christian city that Kurdish forces recently reclaimed from ISIS.

Part 3: ISIS Tunnel

Once ISIS took over a village, they would invade the homes of those who fled and dig tunnels in their living rooms and basements. From there, they could move around freely to ambush incoming Iraqi and Kurdish soldiers.

Part 4: The Biblical City of Nimrud

One thing that ISIS tried to do was stamp out history, especially biblical history. But when it came to the ancient city of Nimrud, the capital city of the ancient Assyrian empire that we read about in the Old Testament, they just couldn’t finish the job.

Part 5: The Sad City of Sinjar

Before ISIS invaded in 2014, Sinjar was a thriving town of about 100,000 people, with another 100,000 Yazidis in the surrounding area. Today, it’s a ghost town. Houses are flattened and mass graves have been discovered throughout the city.
