“A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.”Psalm 93:12-15

Proverbs 13:22
My grandfather was a kind and dignified man who wore a starched white shirt and tie at every meal. He was also energetic, enthusiastic, and fun. Though the proverb says that “children’s children are a crown to the aged,” (17:6a), in my case it worked both ways because he was such a blessing to me.
Sunday meals of either Grandma’s fried chicken or chicken and dumplings were a treat. Afterwards, my grandfather would take me for long walks through a canyon in Southern California, telling stories and bringing Bible characters to life as he did so. We always finished with a visit to the candy department at the local market.
As my grandfather pastored his church (really, he pastored the whole small town!), his love for Jesus was contagious. Rooted in Christ, he could “flourish like a palm tree…planted in the house of the Lord… still bear[ing] fruit in old age” (see Psalm 92). Might there be a small child in your life to whom you can show the unconditional love of Jesus? In doing so, you may be leaving a priceless inheritance.
