"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."
(MATTHEW24:35)

John 1:1-18
Two stunning discoveries were made in the fall of 2013. Scholars were buzzing with excitement when they found a 4,000-year-old sphinx statue and a 1,500-year-old Jewish mosaic.

The Egyptian sphinx, uncovered in northern Israel, was a once-in-a-lifetime find, and it demonstrated Egypt’s political reach. No Egyptian artifacts have ever been found so far north. The mosaics of Samson unearthed in an ancient Galilean village gave a rare look into a post-temple, Jewish synagogue.

Every year, we read headlines about new archeological discoveries that teach us more about our past. What I find amazing is that God’s Word has never been lost. In fact, Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” This is wonderful news.
His words offer truth and life. At the beginning of this New Year, why not rediscover the treasures found in the Bible? As we read God’s Word and hide it in our hearts, our lives and thoughts reflect more of our Savior. And this transformation is truly a stunning discovery!
