“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Come up to me on the mountain and stay here... ’”

Exodus 24:12a
I’ve spent many years in ministry, and while I love spending time with people, some of the most precious times have been alone with God. The foundation of my faith is laid then. On Sundays at church I enjoy the music, the sermon, and the fellowship. But I really treasure those quiet times alone with God with my open Bible and no interruptions. It’s then that I am affirmed of His call on my life. I remember the most basic truths of my faith. I rest in His presence. And when I come off the “mountain top,” it is time to get back into the world of opportunity.
I love the details in the Bible that tell of God drawing near to individuals and spending time with them. Imagine being Abraham, Moses, Elijah… any number of people for whom the very presence of the Lord was real. You need not imagine! The Holy Spirit dwells in you today. Christ has, indeed, drawn near to you!
Might you find or further develop that quiet place where you and God are together? Spend time with Him each day and pass along what you come to know of Him.
