"Peace to the brothers, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."
(EPHESIANS 6:23)

John 3:16-18
There is an old country song about looking for love in all the wrong places. Whenever we seek love apart from faith in God, we’re looking in the wrong place. We’re on a quest to be loved by another, wanting to make ourselves seem lovable, attractive, and fun. Looking for love is wanting to be wanted. It is a desire to be adored by others… in a sense, to be worshipped. It’s a hard charade to keep up; eventually, our true colors come out. Selfishness and pride begin poking holes in the image we are trying to project, driving away the very people we tried so hard to attract.

The good news of this blessing is that you don’t have to earn the love of God. In fact, you can’t. If our quest for love devolves into a desire to be worshipped, we end up trying to steal what is rightfully God’s. In response, He graciously gives us His love through faith in Christ. Only when we are trusting in the work of Jesus on our behalf can we know that God loves us and is pleased with us. What a great gift! What a great love!
