"For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him."
(2 Chronicles 16:9a)

Luke 1:48-55
Mary was not a random choice, nor was she selected to be the mother of the Messiah because she was an outstanding spiritual leader among her people. Crowds were not lining up to hear her dispense divine wisdom or provide miraculous healing. Scholars believe Mary was no more than 13 or 14 when her engagement to Joseph was arranged. Like the son she bore, there was probably little about her demeanor or physical appearance that made her remarkable; there was no immediate attention-grabbing specialness.

But God saw in Mary a girl whose heart was His. Raised to be pure, well-acquainted with the Scriptures and the prophets, she was yielded to the Lord. He placed on her delicate shoulders great responsibility…but also great privilege. Imagine being chosen to give birth to the Savior of the world!

Today’s key verse explains that God continues to seek out, enable and bless those who will offer themselves to accomplish His work here on earth. Are you willing to give your whole heart, mind, soul and body to Him?
