"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

John 14:3
“Be Prepared.” That has been the Boy Scouts motto since its founding. It is also a theme you’ll find in the Bible. David takes comfort knowing that God prepares a table for him in the presence of his enemies (Psalm 23:5). Jesus declared that our inheritance has been prepared for us since creation (Matthew 25:34). At the Last Supper Jesus reassured His disciples by telling them that He was going to prepare a place for them (John 14:3).
Jesus’ ministry was focused on preparing His disciples. Luke tells us there came a point when Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem (9:51). From that time on He was preparing His disciples for the momentous events of the crucifixion and resurrection. Imagine that! He was the one who would endure the torturous suffering, but He was intent on preparing His friends.
Preparation was part of God’s plan. Knowing that He is preparing our way gives us confidence to continue the journey. I invite you to prepare with me for the celebration of the greatest event in history: the resurrection.
