"Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."
(HEBREWS12:3)

Hebrews 11:39-12:1-3
Autumn in North America is a season for football games and homecoming dances. And it’s a great time of the year to be a high school student. At least Whitney Kropp in West Branch, Michigan thought so when she was voted homecoming queen in 2012. But when she found out it was a bad prank, she was crushed.

Bullying comes in all forms. This one takes the cake because it included hundreds of students at one high school picking on one classmate. Whitney said she felt like trash when she learned of the joke, and she didn’t want to take the crown. But with the encouragement of her friends and family, she decided to go ahead with the coronation in a donated dress. Thankfully, many in her community cheered her brave decision.

Jesus knows the sting of persecution. He can relate to those who are bullied. He was slandered, laughed at, and spit upon. He knows what it’s like to have everyone close to Him turn away. Yet He endured the pain of the cross knowing the joy that was set before Him…because that joy is you!
