“When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”

Luke 12:11-12
“One of our subordinate units will be deployed to deal with the Ebola crisis,” the soldier explained. “They need a chaplain, and we all thought of you.” I had been home from Afghanistan for nine months, and out of fairness to all involved, I needed time to consider this. My wife happened to be pregnant with our next baby, so the conversation that night started with, “Honey, how emotionally stable are you right now?”
We offered the Lord our tears and prayers all weekend, and with my wife leading the way, we said “Yes.” I would again leave a newborn, but we believed that God would provide. Two months later, the mission was cancelled. We never regretted our “Yes.”
By nature, we often look at daunting trials and wonder how we can walk through them. We know that we do not have the strength to do so on our own. We fear failing. But the Lord doesn’t call us to move on our own strength. We go in the power of the Holy Spirit who fortifies us. Praise God today for His provision! With Him you can go through it all again.
