"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
(JOHN 6:51)

Matthew 6:9-15;
1 Kings 8:27-30
Of all the world’s faiths, only Christians believe in the God who came down from heaven and lived (and still lives!) among us. He both transcends us and all creation, yet also is immanent, utterly a part of us by His Spirit.

Buddhists and Hindus see their god only as part of creation. There is no distinction between any created thing and their idea of god. On the other hand, the gods of Islam and of the Jews are completely remote and entirely removed from creation. In Christianity, God is Creator and Ruler of the universe and at the same time our personal, nearby Father.

The true God rules from heaven in transcendence, but came down to earth to live among His people. For the ancient Hebrew, this meant His presence in the Tabernacle or Temple. But for us, God has come in the person of Jesus Christ, whose Spirit continues to live in us. We take comfort knowing that our heavenly Dad is close at hand and loves us unconditionally as a good father does. He sent His Son to live, die and rise again for our salvation.
