"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient,
bearing with one another in love."
(EPHESIANS 4:2)

Ephesians 4:1-13
Mel and I shared in ministry while living on Okinawa. He worked with the Navigators discipleship ministry, and I was part of the Far East Broadcasting staff. We often spent time talking about our ministries, praying for those we were working with, and encouraging each other. I saw Mel’s humility and gentleness and learned how God molds our lives over time. Truly it was an honor to have his influence on my life. A few years ago, Mel ended his earthly journey, and recently I saw a photo of his
burial site with these words: “Walked humbly with his God”. Wouldn’t that be how we’d all like to be remembered?

The Apostle Paul came to know the risen Jesus and spent every day of his life from then on preaching of Him. Paul knew his Savior who was completely humble and gentle, patient, and who did indeed bear with him in love. We have that same Savior! Because of Christ, Paul knew what His church should look like. “Only one life ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last”
(C.T. Studd, 1860-1931).
