"For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ."
(1 THESSALONIANS 5:9)

Genesis 6:9-8
In recent years, the story of Noah has become popular again. Everywhere you look, you see Noah’s ark on nursery sets, toys, and books. The name “Noah” has risen on the charts of top baby names. And who can forget the 2014 Hollywood film starring Russell Crowe? (Actually, many who went to see it wished they could forget it. Outside of the large boat and a guy named Noah, most of it was far from the biblical story.)

But Noah’s story is more than a tale about a floating zoo. It teaches us how sinful mankind is and how we deserve to be judged by God. Also it gives us a powerful picture of how gracious God is towards His people.

As God poured down His wrath on the earth through the flood, Noah and his family were completely safe in the ark. It safely brought them
through God’s judgment.

In the same way, Jesus is an “ark” for His people… for you and for me! He absorbed God’s judgment on the cross and “rescues us from the coming wrath” (1 Thessalonians 1:10). One day He will deliver us safely into a New World without sin.
