“What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Romans 8:31
For Canon Andrew White, taking risks and facing danger is a way of life. Known by many as the Vicar of Baghdad, he has devoted himself to serving the people of the Iraqi capital. Even when ISIS threatened to overtake the city and Andrew was forced to leave, he only went as far as Jordan in order to continue serving those Iraqis living as refugees.
A medic by training, Andrew’s initial career plans did not involve bullet-proof vests and security details. But once God got hold of his heart, everything about his attitude to faith and risk changed. “I tell people not to take care but to take risks,” he says. “That has to be an ongoing process.”
For all of us, that process requires daily surrender to the will of God, no matter how serious or how insignificant our difficulties may be. We can take risks in this life for the cause of Christ because He took the greatest risk for us… all the way to the cross. He took our punishment so He could take care of our debt. Because of that, who else could we possibly want on our side?
