“‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse…. Test me in this,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.’”

Malachi 3:10
Decades ago a dear widowed lady from the Montrose area of Los Angeles called in to the Haven office asking for the “Friday Speaker.” Four of us on staff had just met that morning in President Val Hellickson’s office to pray because there was not enough money to make payroll that week.
The widow asked me to meet her on a particular park bench at 10:30. She told me she would be there holding a white cane (as she was blind) and a grocery bag. Truitt Ford and I drove together to the arranged spot. She instructed us to sit on either side of her and explained that she wanted to give us the saved-up money she had in the paper bag: $15,415. Shocked, we hugged her, thanked her, prayed with her, and took the bag back to the Haven office.
I dumped the pile of 20s, 10s, fives, and ones on Val’s desk. The giver of this gift did not want a receipt, a call, or any mention of it on the broadcast. The amount more than covered the payroll! And how we marveled anew at the Lord opening the floodgates of heaven for us in His perfect timing!
