"'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.'"
(REVELATION 21:4)

Revelation 21
Like many I know, I grieve over certain broken relationships in my life. I weep that they don’t know how much I love them – how much God loves them. It occurred to me recently that because God incarnated – came in the flesh – He knows what it’s like to be me. But when Jesus returned to heaven, He deposited His Spirit in me so I can feel what it’s like to be Him. Through His Spirit, as I feel my heart break over rejected love and brokenness, I can feel the pain of God’s own heart over those who have rejected His love and His invitation to a real, forever home.

I wonder at Jesus’ promise of heaven, that there will be no more mourning, crying or pain. It’s hard to imagine! We don’t know how He will make good on that promise, but He is faithful and powerful. He will make all things new, mend that which was broken, heal that which was diseased and wipe every tear away from our eyes. And best of all, God Himself will dwell with us, and we will be His people. Our real, forever home will be forever wonderful!
