“But I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you.”

Jeremiah 7:23
The God-man Jesus came into this world in a wooden manger, and He went out of it on a wooden cross. Each day of His life between those two was marked by perfect obedience. He was “obedient to death,” as Paul said in Philippians 2:8, “even death on a cross!” The Savior of the world gave His perfect obedience for you and me because our obedience would always, sadly, fall short.
Do you remember the story of the Samaritan woman in John 4? She had no idea that the Man she was about to encounter that day at the well would radically alter her life. In a moment all of her shame, sin, and disobedience were replaced by the power, grace, and forgiveness of Jesus. She went out from Him a changed person, telling of her encounter with Jesus so that many believed, from that day on and even now.
Why do we cling to our moments of shame and regret for so long? Jesus perfectly removes those barriers from our lives. He has borne the weight of our sin at the cross so we could walk in as much freedom as the Samaritan woman at the well.
