“He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

Psalm 23:3
You have probably heard of guilt by association, bearing blame because of your affiliations. But are you familiar with glory by association? Through Jesus, this is what we have.
God has all glory in and of Himself; He doesn’t derive it from His creation. But He does display His glory through creation. That is why as followers of Jesus we often say that no matter what happens, we know God is acting for our good and for His glory. In other words, God acts “for his name’s sake.”
This month we’ll look at Scripture passages that reveal one of the best truths we could ever know: God acts in history for His name’s sake. When God puts His name on you, He will act for the sake of His reputation, no matter how badly you’ve blown it.
Look again at Psalm 23. Why does God shepherd us, make us lie down in green pastures, lead us beside quiet waters, restore our souls? Because we are such amazing people? No, that would be a shaky foundation. It is for His name’s sake. We have a 100% guarantee and a rock solid source of hope.
