"'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed
you as a prophet to the nations.'"
(JEREMIAH 1:5)

Jeremiah 1:1-10
Jeremiah’s life was not easy, yet he models faithfulness to God and compassion for God’s people while under pressure. There were no accolades for himself, but still he served the Lord in humility, delivering a message that was unpopular. He pressed on faithfully, knowing his own powerlessness and God’s great powerfulness; God assured Jeremiah that He would “replenish every sorrowful soul” (Jeremiah 31:25, NKJV).

The Lord’s hand was on Jeremiah’s life right from the beginning. He declared that He formed, knew, set, and appointed him. Jeremiah argued he didn’t “know how to speak.” God simply said He would give Jeremiah the right words, and there was no reason to fear because
He promised, “I am with you.” Jeremiah
walked faithfully with the Lord in ministry some 42 years beginning under the good King Josiah, and concluding under Zedekiah and the Babylonian captivity.

God calls each one of us to Himself, anoints us for His service, empowers us with His Spirit, and instructs us with His message for our lives.
