“… who satisfies your desires with good things.”

Psalm 103:5a
During the holidays, we can’t seem to help ourselves from wanting more than usual, can we? Maybe you saw the “Pre-Black Friday Doorbuster” ad for that 50-inch flat screen television you want. Or maybe you desire something on the sentimental side. There has probably been something you begged God for, something that you thought would be good enough to satisfy your innate desires.
But what is good? What truly fills the void in our hearts? We see in Matthew 24:35 that heaven and earth will disappear, but the words of Christ will not! This directly affects you and me.
All in this world is temporary. Everything will fade. But our souls are secure in Christ, the beloved Son with whom God is well pleased. Jesus, above our desires for the pleasures of life, is what should satisfy our deepest longing for complete joy and goodness. For that is found in Christ alone. He took on our wretchedness, died for us, and presents us before the Father as blameless and holy, so that we can spend an eternity at home with Him in Heaven.
