"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess."
(Hebrews 4:14)

1 Corinthians 1:4-9; 15:1-2
I wish I could say that I always hold firmly to the faith I profess, but at times I find myself responding to difficult situations (or people!) as if I believed otherwise. When I do that, I am walking by what I see, feel and hear rather than by what I know – or rather, Who I know. You see, “we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus knows my temptations and weaknesses because He has faced them. But the outcome for Him was victory. So He alone is able to empathize and give me the grace to hold on when I feel weak. Even when I am faithless, He is faithful. Even when I am weak, He is strong. When I can’t love, He can love through me.

Paul tells us, “He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful” (1 Corinthians 1:8-9). He will do it!
