“Others went out on the sea in ships…They saw the works of the LORD, his wonderful deeds in the deep.”

Psalm 107:23-24
The real reason we left life behind and went to sea is we were a mess. Our marriage was dangling by a thread. We were so wrapped up in the rat race of work and constant activity that we lost focus. We believed in God, but we had wandered so far from Him that we hardly had a relationship with Him. Like the prodigal son in Luke 15, we had squandered our money on wild living. And like many a desperate soul, we cried out to God when we hit rock bottom.
1 John 1:9 reminds us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” I am so grateful to know this merciful God who sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die for me. Are you living with guilt and regret and don’t know what to do? There is hope in Jesus. Confess and believe. Forgiveness cannot be earned; it is a gift of amazing grace.
The most wonderful work of the Lord we saw in the deep was how he mended our family and guided us to our desired haven (see v. 30). He reaches out to us, no matter how far we drift.
