“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

Psalm 19:1
Last year the United States experienced a total solar eclipse. Wearing special glasses 50 times stronger than sunglasses, I looked up at the sun and witnessed the moon inching in front of it until it was completely blocked out. I couldn’t help but sense God’s mighty control over the universe.
The moon is 240,000 miles from earth; the sun is 93 million miles away; the earth is moving 1,000 mph in orbit. Yet astronomers can know down to the exact second when an eclipse will take place years before it happens. That’s how dependable the dynamics of our solar system are. And the God of this universe is even more dependable than that!
Our lives can seem out of control. Work changes, family emergencies, and unfortunate circumstances create chaos and fear in us. When God wants to assure His people of His mighty power and dependability, He directs our eyes upward. “Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?” (Isaiah 40:26a)
Today you can trade fear for joy, knowing the God of all creation is in control.
