"Jesus said, 'This sickness will not end in death.
No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may
be glorified through it.'"
(JOHN 11:4)

John 11:1-44
What do you do when someone you love becomes sick? Most people want to be with the person, helping out, fixing a meal, praying. And if it is in their power to help the loved one recover, most would do it in a heartbeat.

With their brother Lazarus on his deathbed, Mary and Martha send word to Jesus: “Lord, the one you love is sick.” The disciples know Jesus is especially close to Lazarus. Yet when Jesus hears His friend is suffering, He does not immediately come. In fact, Lazarus probably dies soon after the message reaches Jesus.

The family is crushed, lamenting to Jesus that Lazarus wouldn’t have died if Jesus had hurried to his side. Why would someone who had the power to heal want to show up only after His friend’s death and burial?

But it is at that point that we see along with Mary and Martha that Jesus IS the true resurrection and the One who gives and takes life as He sees fit for the glory of God. Will you allow Jesus to reveal God and bring glory to Him even when it may not fit your timing?
