Why is the sky blue? How do planes fly? Where did God come from?


Have you ever been asked any of those (or similar) questions by a child? Asking questions is how children learn. For every answer, they have a dozen more questions. Some questions are easy; others stump us.


It doesn’t help that we still ask some of the same questions as adults. How can God be three in one? Where is heaven? How could Jesus be both God and man?


We won’t completely understand some things until we are finally in God’s presence. But just because we don’t understand the triune nature of God or the location of heaven does not make them any less true.


Still, there are other things we don’t understand that God does intend for us to know. We can teach children a valuable lesson by answering their spiritual questions with, “Let’s look for the answer together in the Bible.” And for the spiritual questions we can’t answer? The best response is, “I don’t know yet. But someday, when we’re with Jesus in heaven, all our questions will be answered.”
