“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”

Colossians 3:3
Of all the things to struggle with as a young army chaplain, I was most perplexed by my insecurity. I loved my soldiers but felt woefully incompetent as an officer, administrator, and advisor to the commander. One day, I self-consciously introduced myself to my new commander by saying, “I’m young and there is a lot I don’t know, but I’m eager to learn!” He cast me a confused look and said, “That was weird.”
Of course, his response didn’t help with my insecurity! Nor could any other response have helped. Security is not found in circumstances or people, but only in the safe confines of Christ’s sheepfold. “If you have been raised with Christ,” Paul says, “set your minds on things above…for your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
An identity that is founded in anything but Christ leads to insecurity. But because you are hidden with Christ in God, you are forever in security. Kept in His gracious hand, nothing in this world can touch who you are in Him and what He has made you to be. I confidently testify to that!
