“Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.”

Luke 4:14
Once the testing and trials in the wilderness were behind Him, Jesus began His public ministry, fueled by the Father’s love and the Spirit’s guidance. As you read on in this passage, you see that the Spirit’s power filled Jesus to preach the gospel to the poor, proclaim freedom for the prisoners, bring sight to the blind, and announce that the Kingdom of God had broken into the earth.
The same Spirit from the Father that led and filled Jesus is alive and well today in His children. Twenty-eight years ago as a young seminary student, I met a chaplain’s clerk in a California State Prison. His passion for Christ was contagious. In every prison he has been transferred to, the Lord uses him to share His message of amazing grace. Thousands have come to know and follow Jesus.
Another friend of mine who is serving a life sentence is now an ordained minister in a prison church where the Kingdom of God is breaking through the darkness in the power of the Spirit. Be encouraged; that same Spirit is available to you and to me!
