“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12
Through the decades of my life, I have grown in my love and appreciation of the Bible and its Author. This book, the expression of God Himself—the very words of God Himself!—has become my manual for life. And God has provided unique opportunities to me with Scripture.
Several years ago I happened to be walking through our pastor’s study and noticed his open Bible. Passages were highlighted and marked with colored ink, words underlined and circled, notes written in the margin. I began to do the same thing in my Bible, a damaged Scofield Study Bible that I’d purchased for half-price. I still treasure it and the notes I made over the years.
In college there was a coffee shop where I had “my corner table” to study Scripture. I also knew a trail leading to the top of a mountain above the college overlooking the Bay Area where I enjoyed quiet time in God’s Word. Psalm 119:97 came to life: “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.”
The foundation given to me through God’s living and active Word is priceless.
