“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”

Philippians 4:4
This month you’ve read of godly principles that build our foundation of faith. A foundation that includes laughter and rejoicing is deeply needed. With little good news to be found in today’s headlines, with Christians suffering worldwide, with all that draws us to fear and instability, it’s a wonder a person can smile at all!
But reading today’s Scripture passage reminds us that God commands us to rejoice. His answer for worry in this broken and sinful world is to get beyond the fear and see our way through to hope and joy in Christ. His answer is Jesus!
There is joy to be found in creation, in people, in music, in words. These general revelations of God’s goodness come to us in the midst of our sufferings and anxieties. That’s exactly what Jesus came to do. He came to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners… and that includes us who are prisoners of worry and despair. He entered our suffering world to bring true hope and lasting joy to those who believe in Him!
