“Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

Revelation 1:12-18
Life is a journey. It begins where you are. It ends where God is. Not one of us knows the distance or the time span
between those two points. No one… save the One who gave us life at journey’s outset and who promises to be with us along all the winding paths.
And didn’t Jesus promise to go with us? Almost any earthly journey is easier when someone comes along who knows the way, who will be a traveling companion until you’re back home. Life’s journey can wind in tortuous paths. When Jesus assured His disciples He would be with them always, they had just emerged from the greatest trial of their earthly experience—when Jesus entered the valley called Death.
They never expected to see Him again. But there He was, alive and promising them His continued presence even beyond their own lifespans. Death did not interrupt His care of them, and it does not interrupt His care of you either. His promises are trustworthy. “I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever!” (Revelation 1:18)
