"...even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you."

Psalm 139:12
A few years ago and before I began serving my prison sentence, I joined a group of young adults from our church for a late-night game of capture the flag in an extremely dark wooded area. I had to move slowly so I wouldn’t trip over anything. Holding one arm in front of my face, I kept unseen branches from poking at my eyes. And more than once I got tangled in the dense brush and had to backtrack to find another way.
Sometimes our walk with God brings us to dark places, too. I certainly have discovered that from within the walls of a federal prison. I see that if I let go of God and rely on my own abilities, these dark places can truly disorient me. On my own, I get tangled up in the dangers that could easily have been avoided had I been holding tightly to His hand. I often find myself asking God to help me see. But I need to trust that He can see just fine and will lead me through.
No matter where you find yourself today, God is with you. He holds you even when you think you’ve let go of Him. Let Him lead you!
