"So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir."
(GALATIANS 4:7)

Galatians 4:3-7
Once while in India I decided to take an elephant ride. As I waited in line for my turn, I noticed the huge beasts were attached by small chains to tiny stumps. I thought it was a joke, so I asked around. What I learned was remarkable.

When these captive elephants are young, they are chained to the stumps which at the time are adequate to hold them. However, when they are adult elephants, they believe that they still are bound by that chain. They don’t realize that because of their full-grown strength, that is no longer true.

The Bible tells us that we once were slaves to sin and death, bound by their strong chains. But that is no longer true of us since Christ broke the restraints. Like those elephants, we somehow are still under the impression that we are captive though we possess a power and authority over our chains.

Are you held captive in the agony of a failed relationship, a past sin, or some deep insecurity? Child of the King, know that in following Jesus you have been set free from every chain!
