"...let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music to him...."
(PSALM 149:2-3)

Zephaniah 3:14-17
I lived for a year in a log cabin with some young guys from my church. A sign in the living room there read “no dancing allowed.” I wondered how that would play out, seeing as the guys in the house were known to be pretty wild dudes. One night I came home to nearly 100 young Christians dancing. Their joy was wonderful!

Many of us think of God as a grumpy old guy who puts up “no dancing” signs in His living room. In reality, God is the originator of life and joy and – yes – even dancing! The Bible shows Him from the first page to the last celebrating over us. The Lord’s desire for us is to glorify Him in all we do and enjoy Him forever. And sometimes, every muscle and limb of the body needs to get in on that.

When Christians sit around bored as wood, abdicating celebration to the world, we have forgotten what the party is all about: celebrating when even one lost soul is found! Our God is a rejoicing God, and He invites us to be a rejoicing people, praising His name as the psalmist says, with dancing and music.
