“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”

John 8:12
I have a friend who has been diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder (SAD). She has learned to spend her winter mornings sitting in front of a bank of full-spectrum lights in order to maintain the energy level that is characteristic of her during the sunny summer months. Mid-December used to find her sleeping too many hours and unable to accomplish tasks or even think clearly. But now with the light treatments, she is much more active. Her husband teases her about being “solar powered.”
As many people are hanging Christmas lights outdoors for all to see by this weekend, this is a good time to consider what is my light source? Jesus, the true light of the world, brings warmth and peace to our lives. Let all those decorative lights remind you of this. By stilling our hearts before Him and reflecting on all He has done for us, He energizes and renews us. He becomes our Power Source as we become “Jesus powered” for the tasks of the day.
We no longer walk in darkness. Jesus walks with us and lights the path as we go.
