“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13
Weary at the end of a particularly heat-intense day of ministry challenges and family pressures, a pastor said to his wife, “Honey, would you just remind me of the Gospel?” He knew what he needed: a fresh filling of the hope of the good news of Jesus. He needed exactly what he’d been giving out all day!
The Gospel isn’t meant to be hidden away as a memento of the day we came to faith. It’s to be sought out and applied daily as we walk through life in Jesus Christ—some days feeling victorious, and other days feeling defeated. As we trust in Him, the Holy Spirit fills us with the hope of the Gospel that we can give freely to others. We may be in the midst of our own trials, but God gives us grace to pour out His hope onto those who need it. And it is returned to us—overflowing, mingled with refreshing joy and peace! “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Luke 6:38-39).
