“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

Psalm 25:5
Have you ever found yourself at a difficult crossroads asking, Which is the way God wants me to take? What do we normally do in these cases? Perhaps pray, read the Bible, talk to a friend or family member, consult with a religious person, or consider prior experiences. King David came to God before every battle and prayed words such as make me, lead me, guide me, and teach me. He wrote many of his psalms from a heart that was desperately seeking and leaning on the Lord’s leading. He wanted the Lord to set out the pathway before him.
As I think about survival in communist countries such as Cuba, I see that many citizens resort to taking shortcuts, doing illegal things, or performing illicit actions to make ends meet. Often unethical dealings have become a way of life for them. However, the pathways of God will always lead you to “integrity and uprightness” (v. 21).
The next time you find yourself at a fork in the road, pray the words of King David in Psalm 25. Your divine Shepherd will lead you on the correct pathway.
