“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Romans 5:1
We can look all around this world and look down through history but still find no place or era where there really is or was peace. The world keeps searching for it, maintaining that higher education, better-distributed wealth, more solid upbringing of children, greater acceptance and tolerance, etc., would bring about world peace. We all know that those good measures simply won’t do it. God hasn’t promised us peace with or in this world, but He has promised us “peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
When we receive God’s gift of salvation through Jesus’ sacrifice for our sin, God makes peace with us. We were at war with Him in our old nature, but not any longer! Paul explains that peace is above what our sinful nature is capable of producing. That is why Jesus said you must be “born again” (John 3:3).
The possibilities are now limitless for peace with God and man. Humility, forgiveness, reconciliation, and self-sacrificing love can all be found in our lives because Jesus bought them for us at the cross.
