“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.”

Psalm 90:14
If we believe in Jesus, we know that someday we will be satisfied. Christ will come for us or we will die and go to Him. A feast awaits us. But how do we deal with our nagging hunger in the meantime?
Moses tells us in today’s reading. He is qualified to speak on the subject, having spent two thirds of his life in the wilderness. Psalm 90, the only one attributed to him, tells of the unrequited longings of the desert. Man’s sin has brought God’s wrath. Our days are short and full of hard, often unfruitful, work. It seems like we blink and our life is over.
But, Moses says, that’s not all there is! Every morning when he woke up and went out of his tent, he saw manna. Manna! Not just on day 1 or day 40 or day 400, but it was there every single day until the Israelites entered the Promised Land. God’s unfailing love came to them in the form of manna, daily provision for hungry stomachs and souls. God’s unfailing love comes every morning through Jesus, the very Bread of Life, who loved us and gave Himself for us.
