“Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea—the LORD on high is mighty.”

Psalm 93:4
On our big sailing trip, we took a diagonal course from North Carolina to the British Virgin Islands. For ten days we were in open ocean. On the third night we hit a strong gale with winds up to 50 knots and waves 10-15 feet high. Nowhere near land, we could not tuck in for safety. Nor would we have been able to, because our engine had stopped working earlier that day. We had to put down all our sails and go below to wait it out. For 12 hours it was like we were being tossed around on a carnival ride that we couldn’t get off of. Once the storm died, we gathered our frayed nerves, hoisted the sails, and set out again.
I have literally seen the seas “lift up their voice, their pounding waves.” Have you faced storms of life that you thought would overtake you? I find great comfort in Psalm 93:4 because it tells me with certainty that The. LORD. On. High. Is. Mighty!
May you also be calmed when the storms of life amass around you, and you lose control. Our mighty God is still at the helm. There is no tempest too great for Him.
