“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”

Hebrews 6:19
“I’ve anchored my soul in the ‘Haven of Rest’/ I’ll sail the wide seas no more;/ The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy deep,/ In Jesus I’m safe evermore.”
People throughout the decades and around the world have heard the four-part harmony of the Haven Quartet singing out the familiar chorus line of the 1890 hymn by Henry L. Gilmour. Songs prompt associations for us. It’s one of the gifts that the Lord imbued into music. We all know the power of a song from our youth whose lyrics we never forget. We all know the power of a song “stuck” in our heads.
At Haven Ministries we have sought to put songs in your head that will point you to Jesus. I have loved the old hymns I’ve heard on the program— “There Is a Fountain,” “I Must Tell Jesus,” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” to name a few. But I have loved the new songs, too.
One way to anchor your soul in Jesus is to make God-honoring music a part of your day. When the storms of life toss you about, His comforting promises will “guide you into your desired haven” (see Psalm 107:30).
