“But you are a chosen people… a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

1 Peter 2:9
God has made us for Himself that we might delight in Him through worship. Just think—He has called us “out of darkness into his wonderful light,” and He tells us that He inhabits, or lives in, the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). Amazing! Worship drives us to deepen our knowing Him personally and then to make Him known to others. As our love for Him grows, so does our awe of Him.
Scripture tells us that worship is our highest priority. King David’s greatest desire was to worship God. “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek…to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple” (Psalm 27:4). As we worship, His presence is evident. Through the sounds of music or the tenderness of tears flowing from the heart, through the preaching of His Word, or in the time of offering, there He is.
Worship may surely extend beyond Sunday church services. Whenever your heart is moved, worship Him, proclaiming, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power” (Revelation 4:11).
