“And the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove.”

Luke 3:22a
Recently, I was ministering in an orphanage in Africa where I was invited to watch a double adoption ceremony. The room was electric as the overjoyed staff waited for both children to become part of their new families. The young boys had been with their new parents for about two weeks, and already each clung tightly to his adoptive father. After the documents were signed, the room overflowed with singing and exuberant dancing. Those boys were going home!
When Jesus prayed, heaven was “torn open” (Mark 1:10). The Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove, and the official proclamation revealed that God the Father was celebrating Jesus, anointing Him with favor.
The way our Father shows us that we are part of His family is by filling us with His presence through the Holy Spirit. There is no greater gift than to have God seal our hearts by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And there are no prison bars— literal ones or figurative ones— that can keep out the Holy Spirit. You’ve been adopted into heaven’s family!
