"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and
they will become one flesh."
(GENESIS 2:24)

Psalm 45
Love makes you do crazy things. I attempted to write poetry for Rachel after a few months of dating her. My heart was stirred; I wanted to capture everything I was experiencing in words and give them to her, even though I had never tried my hand at writing poetry before. I found out quickly that I was no poet! But Adam’s poetry written for us in the Bible when his heart was stirred for Eve was different.

“This is now bone of my bones

and flesh of my flesh

she shall be called ‘woman,’

for she was taken out of man.”

(Genesis 2:23)

Adam knew Eve was the one designed for him. In Psalm 45 we read the passionate praise of a king joyfully preparing to meet his bride. He knows she was made for him and he for her. This is exactly the design Christ had for His Church. “God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way” (Ephesians 1:22). As the Church we are deeply connected to our Husband.
