"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast."

Ephesians 2:8-9
I love giving presents. I’m very grateful to programs like Angel Tree that provide gifts for my children and the children of other prisoners at Christmas time. But I sure do miss being able to shop for something special that I’ve chosen specifically for each of my kids. The best gifts show my children that I know and understand them. They’re things they couldn’t get for themselves, and they’re given out of love, with no expectation whatsoever beyond that they’ll be received and enjoyed.
Because of His love for us, God offers each of us the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. It’s a gift that shows a deep understanding of who we are and what we need; it’s something we could never obtain on our own. And God’s love does not come with strings attached. If you haven’t yet received that gift, you can do so right now. Just turn to Jesus and admit that because of your sin, you need His gift. Believe that He will give it to you, just as He promised. If you have already received it, thank Him for it again today!
