“I will listen to what God the LORD will say; he promises peace to his people, his faithful saints.”

Psalm 85:8
We all appreciate a good listener. The message “I care” or “you matter” is communicated tangibly from a good listener. There are many people who ask how I am, but only a handful really listen to my answer.
I have a friend who is officially the best listener in the world. Her eyes never wander off but stay focused on me. Each time we’re together, I feel loved and cared for by her.
You may be longing for a friend like this, or you may know firsthand what a friendship like this is. The reason having a good listener comforts us is because it is a replica here on earth of a heavenly and more perfect One who listens faithfully to us. It’s a picture of how our Savior listens to our every cry. The Psalms are filled with the words of David and others testifying that the Lord listens to them.
You have a Savior who hears your every thought, who has taken all the time in the world to show you how He cares for you. God listened to the cries of His people throughout all time, and He did something about it: He sent us Jesus!
