"Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds
and animals and reptiles."
(ROMANS 1:22-23)

Exodus 20:1-2
God is strict in His Word, demanding complete obedience to all His precepts. Why then do people bow before images? Why do men worship trees, rats, saints, and other idols? If you take a look around, you’ll see that this is so. I know that behind the walls of the prison where I live, these distorted kinds of worship are evident. A believer in Jesus has to wonder why a father in Mexico would sacrifice his little daughter to the “god of the harvest”. And why do so many worship creation rather than the Creator who made all that is seen?

It is time to leave these idols behind and turn to the only living, eternal and omniscient God – Jesus Christ. We find true freedom when we smash the idols in our lives. This freedom leads us to make the same decision Ruth made in Moab: choosing God over her own people, culture, identity, and gods.

Salvation is in Jesus Christ alone, the One who came to win back His people, no matter how far they have strayed from worshiping Him. He saved me, and He can do the same for you.
