“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

1 John 2:2
What’s going on in your life right now? Are your circumstances like a roller coaster, lifting you to the heights of happiness and prosperity, and then plunging you into stomach-dropping adversity? The ups and downs of life often leave us wondering how things will ever work out. That insatiable hunger for life to its fullest from our youth gives way to lower expectations, long work weeks, and constant bills to be paid. Will our hunger ever be satisfied?
Not if it’s up to us. We know that our longings aren’t all pure. We also know that our faith is fickle. In hard times, we’re tempted to blame God, accusing Him of being absent or stingy. In good times, we’re tempted to forget God altogether.
The good news is that it’s not up to us. Jesus came to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. His blood satisfied God’s holy justice for all our blaming, neglect, pride, and idolatry. God is satisfied with the perfect life and atoning death of His Son in our place. A satisfied God is our only hope for true satisfaction.
