I’ve been a Law Enforcement Chaplain with a number of different agencies for over 35 years. A chaplain is a support person who is there in times of tragic events to listen and to offer comfort, guidance and help. Every Friday morning for the past six years, I’ve been privileged to meet with a group of peace officers, all men who serve with distinction in several agencies. They have families, financial concerns, job stresses, marriage issues and spiritual struggles like any of us. But together we open the Bible and find the message of hope and grace in the Gospel.
Recently, we studied today’s passage from Philippians where Paul spoke of dealing with worry and of the importance of prayer. And verse 8 was an encouragement.
At times it will be hard to keep your mind squarely focused where it should be. When that struggle is real for you, remember that all of those qualities Paul listed really describe one individual: Jesus Christ, the true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, praiseworthy One. And He has carried your burdens for you!
