“Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you Have sent.”

John 17:3
What makes life complete for you? Think hard about that. Daily our senses are flooded with marketed messages created to make us think, “This is the life!” From the cars we drive, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the education we achieve, and the recreation we choose, advertisers appeal to a desire for the good life. However, each of these pursuits loses its luster eventually. Our search for true life continues.
Some of the places I have felt life was most fulfilling do not fit our culture’s marketing messages. I have seen “joy unspeakable” in poverty-stricken South Africa, in maximum security prison chapels, in hospital rooms where there’s no hope of recovery. These people have found life outside their circumstances. They’ve learned to live in the presence of a loving Father through Jesus, His Son, through whom we have eternal life.
It is only when an intimate and loving relationship with the Father and Son is cultivated that life flows down from heaven into our striving souls, and we can testify, “This is the life!”
