“But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

John 20:31
I am not very old, but I still shake my fist at the young kids in the Army for whom movies and the internet constitute reality. I find that, unlike prior generations, they often don’t examine Christianity on logical or spiritual grounds. They simply assume that somehow the mass of information they digest daily is truth.
At one point, one of the soldiers who actually was working with the chaplaincy told me that Jesus was married. “Where did you hear that?” I asked him. “The Da Vinci Code,” he replied. I told him it wasn’t true, to which he responded, “How do you know?”
How do we know? By the light of our ultimate authority: God’s Word! If one is to make a claim about Jesus, he should go to the final Word about Jesus: the Bible. This is not only a matter of truth, but of life. It may seem fun and trendy to speculate about Jesus’ life, but there is no need to speculate when we have His Word. For over 2,000 years the Bible has inspired, taught, and revealed God’s perfect plan to rescue us through Jesus. We can’t add anything to it!
