        Donít Quit

ďLet us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all peopleĒ (Galatians 6:9-10).

We thrill to see athletes who discipline themselves to endure amazing physical challenges. We see a contrast, however, in the arena of Christian living. Many start well; then zeal flags and enthusiasm wavers. Service once so joyful and generous becomes spasmodic and halfhearted. We set out serving Christ with high hopes. We see some results and anticipate great success. Our hearts soar with optimism and courage. As time passes, many of our dreams are unfulfilled and we question whether it is all worthwhile. When weíre tired, discontent raises its ugly head, which in turn leads to self-pity, and this is when folks quit. Some of us give up just before the blessing comes, and surely Godís promise should keep us moving on. The theme behind todayís promise is sowing and reaping, and we canít reap before we sow. Reaping is much more spectacular and rewarding then sowing. God calls us to sow, and promises us we shall enjoy the harvest if we do not give up.
